2. Maldives announced on Tuesday, 27th Nov 2012, that its Cabinet has recommended termination of a contract given by the previous regime to GMR Group for developing Ibrahim Nasir International Airport at Male. GMR won the contract in 2010 to upgrade and operate the Maldives airport and build a new terminal after a global tender overseen by the World Bank. The deal with the GMR was signed under former president Mohamed Nasheed’s administration, following a competitive bidding process conducted by the World Bank’s International Finance Corporation (IFC). The deal is cancelled by the cabinet on the instructions of the current president. 5. The Rajasthan government on Wednesday, 28th Nov 2012, approved the OBC commission’s report seeking 5 per cent reservation for SBC in government jobs and educational institutions. The government approved the 5 per cent reservation over and above the existing 49 per cent quota that is already implemented in the state, taking the total reservation to 54 per cent. A government statement said that Gadariya and Gurjjar communities will be included in the SBC category along with three others and this category will be given an additional quota of 5 per cent.
